Position Purpose: The manager on duty and responsible for all hotel operations during overnight shift hours, focusing on front office operations, night audit and hotel safety/security.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage and monitor activities of all employees in the Night Audit department making sure they adhere to the standards of excellence and to the guidelines set in the employee handbook, hotel policies and procedures, coaching, training, and correcting where needed.
  • Always maintain a professional and high-quality service-oriented environment.
  • Act as manager on duty for the hotel in the absence of the Front Office Manager dealing with complaints, problem-solving, disturbances, special requests and any other issues that may arise.
  • Manage the night shift in the department ensuring all employees perform the tasks assigned to them and coordinate Front Office activities with other departments.
  • Inform all Overnight staff of nightly activities, group, and VIP arrivals as well as special requests and repeat guests.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Written and verbal communication including interpersonal skills.

  • Able to balance a variety of conflicting priorities while considering all aspects of the job i.e., financial, operational, and human resource responsibilities.
  • Operational knowledge and proficiency in front office systems including Micros, Microsoft word, excel, and PowerPoint.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

      Education:

      Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of                education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. College Degree preferred.

      Experience:

      Previous Night Audit experience in supervisory or management position.

      Grooming:

      All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well groomed appearance (specific standards available).
