Position Purpose:

Supervise the setup of banquet bars and service of beverages in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner according to the Hilton’s high brand standards of quality.

Essential Functions:

(Average Percent of Time)

            30%     Supervise the setup of banquet bars, hospitality suites and coolers. Issuing the correct amount of liquor, beer                               and wine needed for each bar. Making sure all are done in accordance with standards set forth by the Hilton                               Sandestin Beach Golf  Resort & Spa Banquet Department.

            5%       Run roll call meetings before events to pass along function particulars, including guest and hotel expectations.                            Attend weekly captains’ meetings, monthly staff meetings and all required safety and alcohol awareness                                      training seminars.

            20%     Supervise the service of all beverages in the order and expectation of the guest                                                                             and to insure consistency throughout the banquet function.

            5%       Greet guests and respond to requests in a friendly and courteous manner.

            20%     Once a banquet is complete, supervise the cleaning of banquet bars and bar prep                                                                            areas so the areas will be ready for the next function. Cleaning of all service areas                                                                        to ensure a safe working environment.

           10%     Requisition all items needed for the successful operation of all banquet beverage functions. Review cost                                     of sales with management monthly to maximize revenues and/or to understand opportunities for improvement.

           10%     Complete extra assignments designated by Director of Banquets or Banquet Manager.

Supportive Functions:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, at the desecration of the manager based on the requirements of the hotel.

  • Perform all assigned side work to include replenishing supplies and restocking banquet beverage areas as needed.

  • Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products, as assigned, to adhere to health standards.

  • Periodical assistance in support of stewarding and all other banquet staff.

  • Abide by all Federal, State and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.

Specific Job Knowledge, Skill and Ability:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Must be able to communicate well with people. Must be a problem solver and an independent thinker and worker. Must be able to delegate responsibility and follow up on assigned work.

  • Must have full knowledge of different varieties beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.

  • Knowledge of the appropriate mixology, equipment maintenance, par levels and inventory procedures. Must be able work with Management and Event manager on specialty menu/recipes, providing feedback and solutions.

  • Basic knowledge of the English language sufficient to understand inquiries from customers and communicate instructions to staff and other department employees.

  • Ability to read and comprehend and apply written product labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products and processes within the hotel.

  • Ability to comprehend product rotation and expiration dates to ensure best quality product will be deliver to guest.

  • Ability to read and understand Banquet Event Orders and disseminate the information on them.

  • Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.

  • Learn, remember, and recite the layout of the hotel and be able to give accurate directions to guests.

  • Ability to transport up to 40 lbs., on a service tray, through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout the shift. Ability to lift-up to 60lbs

  • Ability to perform all duties within extreme temperature ranges including prolonged outdoor exposure.

  • Ability to operate and instruct others on the use of standard equipment, i.e.; Island Oasis machine, blenders, soda guns, etc.

Qualification Standards:

Education:

Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. High school education is preferred but not required.

Experience:

Prior banquet and/or hospitality service experience is required.

Licenses or certificates:

None are required for hire, but alcohol awareness and safety awareness courses will be required during employment.

Grooming & Uniform:

All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance in accordance with policy set forth by the management of the Hilton Sandestin Beach & Golf Resort.  Issued uniforms must be maintained and always worn while on property.

Other:

Regular attendance in accordance with hotel standards, which may be changed by the Hilton at any time, is essential to successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance, excused or unexcused, will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Due to the seasonal and business nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules and hours to reflect the staffing needs of the hotel.

Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Hilton rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities. Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
