Qualification Standards:

Education:

Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. High school diploma preferred or equivalent.

Experience:

Food & beverage and experience at a similar volume hotel preferred.  Experience in shipping and receiving preferred. 

Licenses or certificates:

Forklift certificate is preferred.  If not, training can be provided on-site.

Grooming:

All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).

Position Purpose:

Ensures that all deliveries are to Hotel specifications, in accordance with Food and Beverage requisitions, purchase orders, storing, handling and issuing of stock. Issues stock to F&B outlets paying close attention to quantity & units of measure. Responsible for using FIFO to rotate stock.

Essential Functions:

  • Checks each item on deliveries against invoice/packing slip, weighing, counting, verifying prices against specifications to verify accuracy of delivery. Notifies supervisors when shipment arrives or if the shipment fails to arrive so that any discrepancies can be resolved. Properly stores and rotates all stock so that all items are fresh.

  • Fills requisitions paying close attention to quantity, size/weight issued and advises supervisor of items that are low or out of stock so that they can be reordered.

  • Delivers supplies throughout hotel in timely fashion. Ensures proper paper work is issued and verifies delivery with party accepting supplies.

  • Assists in conducting month-end inventories, audits or recounts.

  • Assists with package delivery and logging of hotel mail and freight as needed. Provides support unloading trucks and cleaning the dock.

  • Monitors and documents cooler and freezer temperatures to avoid spoilage.

Supportive Functions:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.

  • Perform any general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned to adhere to health standards.

  • Perform other duties as requested, such as cleaning up unexpected spills, or special guest requests.

  • Participates in hotel/departmental meetings.

Specific Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Knowledge of the appropriate stock levels for any given item kept in inventory and the amount of time the item will be fresh.

  • Basic mathematical skills necessary to track and receive specific volumes of deliveries.

  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language sufficient to complete forms and inventories, read billings and invoices, and communicate with co-workers and purveyors.

  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise, move or push goods on a hand cart/truck weighing a maximum of 300  lbs. Goods must be moved one or more items at a time, depending on size and weight, at a continuous schedule.
